LIFE GUARDS REGIMENT, HOLKHAM, NORFOLK, JASON BYE, 16/07/07
Members of the Life Guards Regiment of the Household Cavalry exercise their horses on Holkham beach in Norfolk...The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment has left London to undertake its annual period of Regimental Training. Following a busy ceremonial season culminating in the opening of the Household Cavalry Museum on Horse Guards, the visit to Norfolk will be a welcome break for both the soldiers and their horses. While the soldiers get to hone their military skills, the horses get to play all sorts of games and frolic in the sea...The camp is based at Bodney, near Watton on the Stanford Training Area, near Thetford in Norfolk; members of the Regiment will be able to complete many of the military training requirements that cannot be carried out in London. These include range periods and exercises to hone individual’s field craft skills. It will also be a chance to improve on equestrian skills with a number of disciplines practised over the period, including cross-country, show jumping and sword, lance and revolver. One of the highlights for the soldiers and the horses is the opportunity to take the horses into the surf on the north coast for a swim in the sea. .Photograph by Jason Bye.Credit Mandatory.t: 07966 173 930.e: mail@jasonbye.com.w: http://www.jasonbye.com.
