Rick Wakeman at the studios of Broadland 102 in Norwich where he records his show for Planet Rock...Rick Wakeman (born May 18, 1949 in Perivale, London, United Kingdom) is a respected and influential British keyboard player. He is best known as the keyboardist for progressive rock group Yes. He is a classically trained pianist and has been highly acclaimed for his virtuosity. In his early years he was a pioneer in the use of electronic keyboards, and his name has become a byword for a keyboard player surrounded by a vast array of equipment...Legendary keyboard player Rick Wakeman began his music career as a session player for artists including David Bowie and Black Sabbath, before joining bands The Strawbs and then world-famous progressive rock group Yes in the early 1970s. Whilst with Yes, he started releasing solo material including albums The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Journey to the Centre of the Earth. He left Yes at the end of 1973 (although it has since re-formed) and went on to write scores for several musicals, as well as stage a huge concert on ice - The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table. He also performs with his son Adam and has released a number of albums with him as Wakeman and Wakeman. He presents Rick's Place on Planet Rock every Saturday from 10am-1pm...Photograph by Jason Bye.Credit Mandatory.t: 07966 173 930.e: mail@jasonbye.com.w: http://www.jasonbye.com. .. ..
