SAINSBURY CENTRE, NORWICH, NORFOLK, JASON BYE, 20/05/06
The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, Norfolk, UK...Norman Foster's iconic first public building, inspired by Zeppelin Airship Hangers is reopening tomorrow (21st May 2006) after a large programme of expansion...The Centre, which first opened in 1978, was built to house the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection of world art, which the couple donated to the University in 1973. ..Since 1978 the Sainsbury Centre has grown to meet the changing needs of museum goers, academics and students. . .It was expanded in 1991 when the Crescent Wing was added, improving facilities for displaying and caring for art and providing space for new teaching and research activities. Both the Crescent Wing extension and the new building link project have been responses to the evolution of thinking in museum use. ....Photograph by Jason Bye.Credit Mandatory.Fees must be agreed before reproduction..t: 07966 173 930.e: mail@jasonbye.com.w: http://www.jasonbye.com. .. ..
